Highland Employer Coalition Ltd (HECL) is a not for profit, community based trust company and is a legacy of the Highland Employer Coalition, one of 10 locally based employer coalitions located throughout the UK. The Coalitions were funded by the Department for Work and Pensions and managed by Working Ventures UK, until March 2011, when the funding provision ceased.
With the support of individuals from the local business community, the new company was formed to continue the type of work that had been carried out by the Highland Employer Coalition.
The Highland Employer Coalition Ltd offers locally based employers, of all sizes, an opportunity to influence the employment market and have their voice in the employment arena.
In addition we assist them to develop and shape sector led training and employment opportunities which ultimately offer a wider pool of skilled and motivated employees.
Highland Employer Coalition Ltd actively engages with employers to reflect their viewpoint by: - Optimising job and career opportunities for people of working age who are currently not in employment. We do this by strengthening the connection between the needs of employers, support agencies and training provision by helping to improve knowledge of the local labour and recruitment market. In addition we promote best practice in fair, effective recruitment and staff retention amongst local employers.
The Coalition has established links between local regeneration projects and employment programmes, as a catalyst for innovation and excellence, whilst supporting a range of methods for preparing people to move into and sustain employment
We are keen to develop and engage with initiatives that open job opportunities for people who are regarded as being disengaged or disadvantaged from the employment market such as those currently receiving benefits, young people, lone parents, ex-offenders, or people facing any other barrier preventing them from entering or returning to work. Ultimately we do this not only to support the individuals but also to help employers gain access to a wider pool of potential employees whilst providing them with a mechanism to deliver their corporate social responsibility.
Our aims are to
"To broker circumstances which strengthen the economies of the Highlands & Moray by working for and with employers, to reflect their needs.
The result of which, is improved and increased opportunities of employment for those disadvantaged or disengaged in the labour market."
